BALLIN’ ON A BUDGET⁣

Grad school loans are a thing of the past. The job hunt is progressing... slowly. COVID is hitting hard. Money is tight.⁣

I am not inherently financially savvy. I love to spend money. I’ve had to rein it in over the last few months. Here are some tips I’ve learned along the way:⁣

𝐃𝐄𝐋𝐄𝐓𝐄 𝐒𝐀𝐋𝐄/𝐃𝐈𝐒𝐂𝐎𝐔𝐍𝐓 𝐄𝐌𝐀𝐈𝐋𝐒 𝐁𝐄𝐅𝐎𝐑𝐄 𝐘𝐎𝐔 𝐇𝐀𝐕𝐄 𝐀 𝐂𝐇𝐀𝐍𝐂𝐄 𝐓𝐎 𝐎𝐏𝐄𝐍 𝐓𝐇𝐄𝐌

My greatest enablers are Amazon Prime, TJ Maxx, HomeGoods, Bath & Body Works, and Target (to name a few). I’ve learned to swipe those emails into the trash before I have a chance to see what’s inside. You can’t want what you don’t know.⁣

Food is another weakness of mine, maybe more so than shopping. If I have a fridge full of freshly cooked food, I don’t find myself at Chipotle quite as often. My boyfriend and I like to grocery shop on Sunday and meal prep 2 different meals for a total of 8-10 servings per person. Follow Instagram food accounts (my fav @fitfoodiefinds) or browse Pinterest. There are so many easy, healthy, and delicious recipes out there. I'm also a HUGE fan of @hellofresh. It's been so convenient during ⁣COVID-19.

Think about your purchases for AT LEAST a day before you make them. Do you NEED it or do you WANT it? It sounds simple but sometimes our minds like to play tricks on us. I’ve found myself justifying why I need the Bath & Body Works wallflowers that are on sale one too many times.⁣

𝐆𝐄𝐓 𝐀 𝐒𝐈𝐃𝐄 𝐇𝐔𝐒𝐓𝐋𝐄

People are still in need of dog walkers, babysitters, etc. Ask around. Consider tutoring (s/o to @varsitytutors) or signing up for Rover. There are ways to make money without making a huge time commitment and sometimes, without even leaving your house.⁣

In what ways have you become financially fit? What tips do you have for saving money? ASKING FOR A FRIEND.
