I START MY DAY THE SAME WAY EVERY SINGLE MORNING⁣

Updated: Jul 15, 2020

Let the dogs out, brew my coffee, make breakfast, let the dogs back inside, curl up with my coffee, breakfast, and pups + make my to-do list for the day. ⁣

I’m a huge fan of lists in general. The act of writing something down adds a level of accountability. There's also no better feeling than crossing something off of a list. Am I right?⁣

I like to use a combination of Microsoft To-do (formerly Wunderlist) and bullet journaling. Daily tasks typically end up on my app whereas events, important dates, and bigger tasks are typically written in my #bujo. ⁣

Once my to-list is set - I spend the first hour of my morning tidying up around the house. Dishes, laundry, etc. I refrain from looking through my phone until I’ve been somewhat productive. ⁣

Productivity pro-tip - Set up time limit notifications for social media. Instagram alerts me when I’ve been scrolling for an hour and then I know it’s time to rein it in. It’s crazy how fast time flies when you’re glued to your phone. ⁣

After I’ve made a dent in the house chores, I start tackling my to-do list for the day. I like to start with a couple quick and easy tasks to make myself feel accomplished. I typically take a break around noon for lunch. ⁣

I do my best to set aside about 30-45 minutes each day for some form of physical activity. In a pre-COVID-19 world, this meant I headed to the gym. Now it looks more like taking the dogs for a walk, doing an at home workout, or playing Mario & Sonic Olympic Games on the Wii. ⁣

Productivity pro-tip - Don’t allow yourself to have enough time to think of an excuse for why you can’t do X, Y, or Z. Don’t bargain or negotiate. JUST DO IT. I'm a master at procrastinating. Recently, I've been most guilty of this when it comes to doing at home workouts. I dread them... but when I’m done, I feel recharged and refreshed. I try to remind myself of this every time. ⁣

Establishing a daily routine has given me a sense of control and helped immensely with my anxiety. What life hacks do you have for staying productive during this uncertain time? How has your everyday routine changed as a result of #COVID19?
