NURSES - TREAT THEM WELL OR YOU'LL WISH YOU WOULD HAVE

Interpersonal relationships can make or break you in the medical field. We are one healthcare team comprised of many necessary parts. There is no hierarchy. Each profession serves its own intended purpose. One unit of the team cannot effectively operate without the collaboration of the others.⁣⁣⁣

WITH THAT BEING SAID, 𝘏𝘈𝘗𝘗𝘠 𝘕𝘈𝘛𝘐𝘖𝘕𝘈𝘓 𝘕𝘜𝘙𝘚𝘌𝘚 𝘋𝘈𝘠 + 𝘞𝘌𝘌𝘒

𝐒𝐓𝐔𝐃𝐄𝐍𝐓𝐒: There were many times as a student where a nurse provided me with guidance in a time of need. Whether I was in a sticky situation (literally lolol) or needed to know where the *insert random medical supply* was kept, they always had my back. They know the ropes. They are master pattern recognizers. Chances are they've experienced far more than you have a student and will be able to offer you some degree of guidance in most situations. Nurses are your best friends. Be nice to them. They can make or break you. ⁣⁣⁣

⁣⁣⁣

𝐏𝐑𝐀𝐂𝐓𝐈𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍𝐄𝐑𝐒: Speaking from an observational standpoint (as I am not yet practicing), I can honestly say that if you want things to run smoothly, listen to and appreciate your nurses. From prepping in the OR to recognizing and alerting you of a patient's rapidly deteriorating vitals to advocating for your patients, nurses are the backbone of many operations in a medical facility. They are our eyes and ears. We must strive to respect their opinions, value their contributions, and express gratitude often.⁣⁣⁣
