If I could choose one practitioner to emulate for the entirety of my career, it would hands down be this man. Dr. Chandra introduced himself to me while I was on my internal medical rotation. I was sitting in the physician documenting room. He looked over at me and simply asked, "Are you a PA student?" He explained his passion for teaching and offered to teach me "a little cardiology." And that he did.
He texted me a couple weeks later. He said he had a couple extra minutes and would love give me an intro into cardiology. We sat for an hour as he walked me through stress tests, echos, and EKGs. He extended an offer to do an elective rotation with him. Without question, I accepted.
I spent all of June of 2019 with Dr. Chandra learning "a little cardiology." I learned more from this man in 1 month that I did in most of my other rotations combined. I performed my first cardioversion, saw my first cardiac cath, and heard some of the most interesting murmurs. More importantly, I learned the art of medicine from this man.
I last spoke to him about a month ago. I had reached out about job opportunities. His most recent texts to me read, "Hi Deejay. So nice to hear from you. Let me investigate. We will find you an outstanding job."
