Employers will often give you a vague prompt such as, "tell us about yourself." This is easier said than done when nerves are involved. Reviewing your resume/CV prior to your interview will remind you of the little details that you may have forgotten.
𝐑𝐄𝐒𝐄𝐀𝐑𝐂𝐇 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐍𝐄𝐓𝗪𝐎𝐑𝐊/𝐂𝐎𝐌𝐏𝐀𝐍𝐘
Browse their website. Read the mission statement. Familiarize yourself with the physicians and APPs who already work for the practice. Know what the group specializes in and few details that set their practice apart.
𝐁𝐄 𝐅𝐀𝐌𝐈𝐋𝐈𝐀𝐑 𝗪𝐈𝐓𝐇 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐌𝐎𝐒𝐓 𝐂𝐎𝐌𝐌𝐎𝐍𝐋𝐘 𝐀𝐒𝐊𝐄𝐃 𝐏𝐀 𝐉𝐎𝐁 𝐈𝐍𝐓𝐄𝐑𝐕𝐈𝐄𝗪 𝐐𝐔𝐄𝐒𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍𝐒
This is an easy google search. Try not to rehearse your answers but do think about how you might answer some of the more difficult prompts. Popular questions: Why did you choose to become a PA? Why do you want to work in (insert specialty)? How do you handle criticism or feedback? What would your peers/colleagues say your strengths and weaknesses are?
𝐏𝐑𝐄𝐏𝐀𝐑𝐄 𝟑 "𝐆𝐎-𝐓𝐎" 𝐒𝐓𝐎𝐑𝐈𝐄𝐒
Think of 3 stories that you can mold to almost any question. Think about times when you exemplified favorable skills and attributes. For example: teamwork, leadership, compassion, problem solving, etc.
𝐁𝐄 𝐀𝐔𝐓𝐇𝐄𝐍𝐓𝐈𝐂
HR managers have much more experience with interviews than you do. Don't try to act like someone you are not. They will most likely see right through you. Be transparent and honest. At the same time, don't offer up unsolicited information.
𝐏𝐑𝐄𝐏𝐀𝐑𝐄 𝐐𝐔𝐄𝐒𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍𝐒 𝐓𝐎 𝐀𝐒𝐊
Compile a list of questions that are specific to the job. Only ask questions that you cannot find the answers to online. Some of my favorites: Has the provider worked with APPs before? Will I have the opportunity to shadow? What is the orientation period like? When should I expect to hear back?
