Recent feels --> trapped, overwhelmed, fearful, inadequate. Trapped by the stay-at-home order and the need for social distancing. Overwhelmed by the desire to help during this devastating pandemic. Fearful of the many unknowns that come with the potential of being called to the frontlines. Inadequate because I'm a new graduate still searching for a job and don't have the means to make an impact (or so I thought).
I've applied for COVID-19 specific temporary and volunteer positions while awaiting my permanent placement as a PA. Ohio has yet to reach its peak and it seems like it's a waiting game at this point. I longed for a way to make an immediate impact.

If you're feeling useless like I was and are looking for a way to make an impact during COVID-19, I highly recommend looking into becoming a CC. De-escalation and crisis management are important skills for any future or current practitioner to master. You will complete a thorough 30 hour training course that provides you with the tools necessary to become proficient in active listening, problem solving, and safety planning. I completed my first shift last night. If I’m being honest, it was a little nerve-racking at first. Even through the jitters, I’m feeling grateful to finally have the opportunity to make an impact.
